Eclipse

☺☺☺☺
My View:   What can I say? Like any book, it has strengths and weaknesses. For instance Bella's mindset is really annoying. But is it's also not entirely unrealistic... have you ever met a teenage girl "in love?" Also, I'm not crazy about either of the guys who love her, but I wouldn't be willing to tolerate their animosity any more than she does. In short, it's a book series. It may be the only book series I know of that was done a disservice by the development of a fandom, though. Translated: These were fine, totally passable YA books until people started freaking out over them.

Same as the others. The dust jacket's inside flap says it perfectly: "Readers captivated by Twilight and New Moon will eagerly devour Eclipse." Word of warning: Don't read them one-after-another like I am for the sake of these reviews. They have become slightly nauseating.
    Quotes:
"Charlie nodded slowly. 'Yeah. The right thing isn't always real obvious. Sometimes the right thing for one person is the wrong thing for someone else. So… good luck figuring that out'" (363).
    Movie?
Of course. My friends and I took a foreign exchange student to see it in theaters actually. Equivalent quality to the others.

Nightlight: A Parody

My View:   Too bad. There are so many legitimate criticisms the Harvard Lampoon writers could have made about Twilight, but instead of drawing out the funny things in the series, the writers here just did everything in their power to write random, strange things and then give the characters names similar to those of characters in the series. If anything, it only made me appreciate Twilight more than I did before.

No one. It's pretty stupid. Unless you're a hardcore Twi-hater, I doubt this is worth your time.

Twilight

☺☺☺
My View:   I don't think it deserves all the hype it gets, but for a light, easy read, it's fine. It would be great if the Twi-haters of the world could calm down. After all, if a pre-teen girl can be persuaded to read because of Twilight, then more power to the books.
Side note: Contrary to the thoughts of many critics, you can't compare HP to these… Twilight isn't nearly as gripping or character-driven. It focuses on a small corner of a fake universe, rather than an entire parallel world. Here, also, you don't get the "everything means something" feel that you have in HP. Altogether, it's probably best for everyone if we all calm down about these books--regardless of what side of the debate we're on.

A girl with a fair imagination who just wants something to hold her attention for a few days. Not the best beach book, but okay for curling up in an armchair during the colder months. Read it by 8th grade because later it'll bore you.
    Quotes:
"'Alice had a bit too much fun fabricating evidence'" (463).
    Movie?
Yeah. But even during my "twihard" phase, I couldn't watch all of it... so still working on that. It's really terrible.
